Persuasion:
Anne Elliot is persuaded to reject the love of her life, Captain Wentworth, when her good friend Lady Russell, hints that there is a better match to be found. Now eight years later, Anne's family has been forced to retrench and move to Bath. But while visiting her married sister, Anne meets Captain Wentworth again, who is now a wealthy man and seeking a wife. Will fate give Anne a second chance at happiness, or will the Captain look elsewhere as he still bears the hurt of her rejection.

Sense and Sensibility:
Sense and Sensibility tells the story of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Left almost penniless and homeless on the death of their father, they rely on the kindness of relatives and friends to find a new home together with their mother and younger sister. Each needs to resolve their problems by marrying well, but fate takes them on a bumpy road along which the impetuous Marianne falls for the duplicitous Willoughby, while Elinor, ever cautious, seems to be unlucky in love. As ever, Austen resolves her heroines' fortunes in her inimitable and witty way.

Pride and Prejudice:
Pride & Prejudice is a classic romance that every reader will love to have on their bookshelf. A comedy of manners centring on the slow-burning romance between the coquettish Elizabeth Bennet and aristocratic, reserved Mr Darcy, this tale of an attraction of opposites has chimed with readers through the ages. This luxurious edition makes a wonderful gift.

About the Author:
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 at Steventon near Basingstoke, the seventh child of the rector of the parish. She lived with her family at Steventon until they moved to Bath when her father retired in 1801. After his death in 1805, she moved around with her mother; in 1809, they settled in Chawton, near Alton, Hampshire. Here she remained, except for a few visits to London, until in May 1817 she moved to Winchester to be near her doctor. There she died on July 18, 1817. As a girl Jane Austen wrote stories, including burlesques of popular romances. Her works were only published after much revision, four novels being published in her lifetime. These are Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma(1816). Two other novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, were published posthumously in 1818 with a biographical notice by her brother, Henry Austen, the first formal announcement of her authorship.
