KS1 English Year 1 Handwriting Targeted Practice Book (CGP Year 1 English):
It starts off with lines and patterns to trace before moving onto letters. Each letter is introduced with helpful arrows to show how it’s formed. Pupils are then given letters to trace and space to write them independently as well, with guidelines to keep letters the same size and dots to show where to start each letter. They’re also given whole words and sentences to trace and copy. This book includes capital letters and numbers too, and a page of helpful handwriting tips.
KS1 English Year 2 Handwriting Targeted Practice Book (CGP Year 2 English):
After a brief recap of all the letters of the alphabet, it moves onto joined-up handwriting. Each different type of join is covered, starting with an example that has arrows to follow to make the join. Pupils can then practise tracing and copying the join on its own, then within a range of words, all with guidelines and starting dots. Break letters and capital letters are also covered. At the end of the book, pupils can practise their joined-up handwriting by copying out longer pieces of writing. Hints are provided at the start of the book.
KS2 English Year 3 Handwriting Targeted Practice Book (CGP Year 3 English):
It starts off with some useful tips for keeping handwriting neat, before recapping the different types of join, with plenty of space to practise. In the first half of the book, pupils are given guidelines to help keep their letters the same size, but in the second half, they’re just given a single line to write on to build up their skills, with tips to help them. As well as common letter combinations, they’re given a wide variety of words and phrases to copy, building up to longer pieces of text towards the end of the book.

It starts off with lines and shapes for them to trace to get them used to controlling a pencil, before moving onto tracing letters and numbers. There’s plenty of practice for letters a-z, including within words, and the numbers 0-9 are covered too. There are also lots of pictures to colour in along the way, and a page of tips for pupils and helpers.
