Overview:
Abi Daré’s two powerful novels invite readers into the world of Adunni, a Lagos-born girl whose voice refuses to be silenced. And So I Roar continues the sweep of her courage, as she confronts the legacies of poverty, gendered expectations, and the stubborn hope that education can change a life. The collection also features The Girl with the Louding Voice, the acclaimed debut that launched Abi Daré onto the global stage. Across these two books, you’ll follow Adunni from rural Ikati to Lagos’ bustling streets and back again, witnessing her growth from a child with a dream into a young woman who understands the value of voice, agency, and community. This paperback set is an ideal gift for readers who crave emotionally honest, socially aware fiction, and for book lovers who want to read two immersive stories in one graceful package. It’s a complete reading journey—perfect for fans of character-driven narratives, coming-of-age fiction, and books that spark important conversations.

What Makes This Collection Special:
Two novels, one extraordinary voice. This collection gathers Abi Daré’s best-known story alongside a companion installment that deepens the arc of Adunni’s resilience. Readers will appreciate the emotional through-line: a fierce determination to learn, the power of education as liberation, and the courage to speak truth to power. The set offers a binge-reading experience—two complete narratives that complement each other, revealing the emotional breadth and social nuance of Nigerian life, class, and ambition. The set is accessible to a wide audience: fans of literary fiction and contemporary drama, students studying modern African literature, or gift buyers seeking powerful, award-winning storytelling. Owning the two titles together creates a strong collectible impression on shelves or book stacks, a talking point in any book club, and a meaningful reminder that one voice can ignite change. This is more than a reading list—it’s a journey through courage, community, and the ripple effects of speaking out.

Books Included in This Collection:
And So I Roar
Plucky fourteen-year-old Adunni is in Lagos, excited to finally enrol in school. But it’s not so simple to run away from your past. In this instalment, Adunni confronts her origins in Ikati and the choices that shaped her. This book captures the moment when determination meets adversity and the drive to build a future that will empower other girls. Readers will be drawn into a vivid world of family, community, and resilience as Adunni fights to claim the bright futures she deserves—and roars her story into the world.

The Girl with the Louding Voice
At fourteen, Adunni dreams of getting an education and a steadier life for her family. Instead, her father sells her into an arranged marriage with an old man. When tragedy strikes, Adunni flees to Lagos, becoming a house-girl to the cruel Big Madam. Life grows harder, but Adunni refuses to be silenced. Her courage, grit, and relentless hope push her toward a future where her voice finally matters—and someone hears her.
